Jack Sinkler left Launceston in Tasmania, aboard the steamer “Yarra Yarra”, headed for Melbourne on the Australian mainland. Jack had received his Conditional Pardon a few weeks earlier. Although his sentence was not over, he was now free to move around the colony and seek work for himself.
